So being a motorcyclist means that sometimes your rights are just plain wronged. I have become somewhat active in making my opinions known about various issues. The one that is currently the hot topic is the The American Motorcyclist Association's: Justice for All program. This program is aimed at making the penalties logical, not just for injuring a motorcyclist, but also pedestrians and all other traffic. Some of the examples are the sentence that former Congressman Bill Janklow received for killing a motorcyclist when he ran a stop sign at a rate of speed greater than the posted limit. This incident is the reason I will not go to South Dakota. More stories of injustice are available on the AMA site and updated as required. I also recommend that you vote. If you don't vote in the elections, I do not believe that you have any right to complain. Democracy is an active process. If you are not registered to vote, click here to go to the Federal Elections Commission's National Mail Voter Registration Page. |
